"I voted in favour of this resolution which is a proposal for a legal act – a regulation on an open, efficient and independent European administration – which lays down the procedural rules that shall govern the administrative activities of the European Union’s administration. The objective of this regulation is to guarantee the right to good administration enshrined in Article 41 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union by means of an open, efficient and independent administration. The way to do this is by setting up an administrative procedure. The regulation enshrines rights to information, procedural rights against the institutions, duties of the administration to cooperate with requests, duties to state reasons for actions, remedies and notification of acts. This regulation is supposed to be an additional tool for citizens, who until now only have the Ombudsman for these matters of redress. I welcome the EU having a system for an administrative procedure, as this will improve the rights of citizens, bring coherence and should lead to more transparency."@en1
