"I voted against this report which had as its overall aim the increased use of robotics and GPS driven machinery in agriculture, having the overall effect of taking farmers off the land. As an MEP from a vastly rural constituency, I oppose this move to take farmers off the land, it having an overall effect of decreasing jobs and removing the beating pulse of rural communities. The report further called for the Commission to take into account the use of this technology when assessing farmers’ eligibility for greening payments in CAP – however, it did not take into account the fact that the vast majority of small, family-run farms would not be able to afford this.
For these reasons, I voted against."@en1
