"I voted in favour of this report that addresses persistent inequality issues such as the gender pay gap (16.3% in EU), the pension gap (39%) a lower employment rate of women vs men and the social exclusion of women. With more than 65 million women living in poverty compared to 57 million men, this report highlights the efforts that need to be made by the EU and the Member States to advance equal opportunities in the field of employment, social security, pay, education, childcare and culture. In particular I agree with its focus on targeted investments that would help to break the vicious cycle of poverty. Whether public or private, I fully support the need for investment with a view to better reconcile private and professional live, improving child elderly and disabled people’s care facilities, free public education and increasing women’s participation in the labour market."@en1
