lpv:spoken text	"I voted in favour of this well balanced own-initiative report that responsibly addresses the emergence and growth of virtual currencies (VC) and their underlying technologies, specifically distributed ledger technology (DLT) and its new and fast developing technology. In principle, this new technology brings a lot of opportunities such as low transaction and operational costs, reducing costs of access to finance, enhancing resilience and speed of payment systems, thereby facilitating the trade in goods and services, etc. However, this report equally highlights the risks of such decentralised technology, such as its use for criminal purposes, money laundering, tax evasion and terrorist financing. There are also risks linked to the fact that there is no clear governance structure which, together with the high volatility of VCs, creates a high degree of uncertainty."@en1
