"Mr President, another month, another waste of time, effort and resources coming to Strasbourg. Another ditched Cameronian promise to the British people – and another fishing agreement! Or rather, two: one new with Liberia and one renewed with Mauritania. This is another betrayal of ordinary people. These agreements are a form of euro-colonialism. They allow the EU to plunder the fish from other people’s waters, while salving their consciences. How much local fishing does not happen because Europeans steal the fish? How many Africans remain poor? How much of the EU conscience money actually goes to help ordinary people? There is an old joke – actually a proverb – which says: ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’ Not with EU fisheries agreements, you do not! Instead you take from him his living, his food, his livelihood and you line the pockets of the political class of the country concerned. And they tell us that we are the mad ones who want to leave the EU. I want Scotland’s 200 mile limit back; Brexit now!"@en1
