"I voted in favour of this resolution in order to share my grave concern for the situation in Poland. The ongoing attack on the country’s constitutional court, on fundamental rights, and democratic values are worrying, and the EU and fellow Member States must take action to dissuade the Polish government from its current course of action.
I am particularly worried about the attempts to legislate away women’s rights and gender equality generally and sexual and reproductive rights specifically. Women must have access to healthcare and to abortion, and have complete freedom to choose. I stand in solidarity with women and feminist campaigners in Poland protesting against the government initiative.
We must engage in constant dialogue with Polish civil society and women’s rights organisations in order to support them in their campaigns and demonstrate our solidarity."@en1
