My only surprise is that this EU decision and this EU announcement today were made so close to the Brexit date, given how contentious the subject is in the United Kingdom. I chose to vote against every vote relating to the EU intention and ambition in defence and military capability and strategy. It is my strongly-held belief that defence and associated military resourcing decisions are those of a sovereign nation and its government. I do not support interference or ambitious future control in this domain by the European Union."@en1
