"The Globalisation Adjustment Fund is an important tool that the EU deploys in order to support communities across Europe who are experiencing harmful economic shifts, in the form of business and factory closures or job losses, due to the flux of global trade and transactions. This can come in the form of re-training programmes or re-development, and opens the door for civil society and social enterprises, as well as local authorities to get involved in rebuilding their communities that would otherwise have been abandoned to dereliction. In the run-up to the UK referendum on EU membership, it is especially important to highlight to British voters this important source of funding, particularly relevant to my constituents in the North West of England. The Globalisation Adjustment Fund is one of the many enormous benefits of EU membership which we can potentially draw on and demonstrates the solidarity principle upon which the EU is founded."@en1
