"The ability of students to study for part of their course in each other’s countries is a major European success story. The universities of Essex, Hertfordshire and East Anglia offer the chance to study abroad in over 20 different countries, and more than 150 students from the University of Cambridge participated in Erasmus exchanges abroad in 2013-2014. Today I am backing extending such exchanges to students from a wider spectrum of society, with more emphasis on exchanges involving vocational training as well as more traditional, academic education. As a Co-President of the all-party Disability Rights Intergroup in this Parliament, I particularly commend the provisions to ensure specific support so disabled young people are fully given the opportunity to take part. All of this is not just about students being able to experience life and learning elsewhere in Europe, but being able to use that learning to benefit from life opportunities in their careers for the rest of those lives. There are those from my own country who are looking to cut off these life chances to our young people. Labour MEPs are working here in the European Parliament and campaigning in Britain to maintain them for future generations."@en1
