"The fishing industry is an important one for the UK and for the South West; agreements like this which help to improve productivity in this sector are very welcome. This agreement will allow British fishing boats to access Greenland’s waters and access species such as northern prawns, Greenland halibut, cod and red fish. It represents the third most important partnership agreement for the European Union in terms of economic value. The previous agreement from 2013 generated EUR 10 million in direct value-added to the EU’s catching sector, so continuing the agreement will no doubt be economically beneficial.
This is an excellent example of how agreements made at the EU level are directly benefitting fishermen in the UK and I was pleased to vote in favour alongside my British Conservative and ECR group colleagues."@en1
