"I fully support advocating the strongest free trade ties with the two key Commonwealth members Australia and New Zealand, and therefore voted in favour of the opening of negotiations. I also support launching these negotiations in the shortest timeframe possible and hope, given the shared values, perspectives and economic systems of the EU, Australia and New Zealand, that mutually beneficial, ambitious and wide—ranging agreements can be concluded as soon as possible. Australia and New Zealand are two strong advocates of free trade agreement deals, with a recent example being the FTA signed with the twelve Pacific Rim countries. That is why I would like to see an FTA which promotes deeper trade and investment relations as quickly as possible, so that we can further deepen trade ties in the growing Asia-Pacific region."@en1
