"I voted in favour of this Draft Legislative Motion; it is important that workers are able to exercise their right of free movement across the European Union, this is to help rectify skill shortages and prevent bottle necks. However this needs to be approached in a fair way that allows people of all skill levels to apply their skills. I agree that Member States should be able βto exclude certain vacancies for apprenticeships and traineeships due to the differences in their educational systems and their active labour market policies.β This should allow Member States to maintain flexibility in their education and training policies. What is vital to maintain here is the balance between the active policy that is required from the European Union to ensure that progress is made and that coordination is improved, but that this is matched by the recognition that labour market is a Member State competence beyond the specifics of the Treaty in regard to the single employment market."@en1
