"I voted in favour of this resolution which calls for swift and comprehensive implementation of the EU-Kosovo Stabilisation and Association Agreement signed in October 2015.
As a country in the Western Balkans, the future of Kosovo is inextricably linked to that of the EU. Therefore it is of crucial importance to implement the reforms called for under the SAA, particularly with regard to ensuring media and judiciary independence, fighting high-level corruption and organised crime and implementing labour market reforms. It is important to note that Kosovo authorities have undertaken important efforts to end the trend of irregular migration, which peaked at the beginning of 2015. Now it is crucial to ensure that short-term measures aimed at dissuading the population from leaving are accompanied by job creation in order to encourage citizens to stay in Kosovo and build a future in their country."@en1
