"I welcome this report and many of the recommendations contained within it. If successfully concluded, the Trade in Services Agreement, covering as it does partners accounting for 70% of global trade in services, will be a fantastic tool for reform, and bring the trade in services rules into the digital age. We need to ensure that in negotiations the Commission seeks ambitious market access openings for EU companies in public procurement, telecoms, transport, and financial and professional services, while ensuring that any movement of people to provide services remains without prejudice to the right of Member States to manage and legislate concerning access to their labour markets and determine their rules concerning the immigration of natural persons. This will create many more trading opportunities for SMEs as well as boosting access for consumers."@en1
