Gas appliances cover a wide range of products, from simple portable cookers to boilers for big buildings, and the current EU stock of gas appliances is at 470 million and growing, with more than 30 million units being sold annually. Given this magnitude, a high level of protection of the health and safety of persons, domestic animals and property are absolutely essential and the report aims to achieve this by setting harmonised requirements and more transparent rules for gas appliance manufacturers."@en1
