"Mr President, Europe represents hope for the future of Britain, whether it is about trade, protecting workers’ rights, the environment, our security or maintaining a powerful voice in the world. Your priorities demonstrate the reason why Britain’s future should be in the EU. I welcome the commitment to delivering fairness in the workplace and the importance of investment into research and innovation as well as the need to teach new skills for the fast-evolving digital economy. Our future lies in a knowledge economy with fairly rewarded and fairly treated workers. The EU’s investment in research provides for new materials for manufacturing, for breakthrough treatments for cancer, and creates jobs in the vibrant digital sector. I look forward to the work of the Dutch Presidency and what it will deliver to reinforce Britain’s place in the EU."@en1
