"I voted in favour of this resolution calling for measures to help protect Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park, which has been a World Heritage Site since 1979, must be protected from the dangers posed by oil exploration, armed conflict and corruption. We have called on the European Commission to take action and devise viable strategies to help protect the park and to support sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo."@en1
