A linked-up energy system could also bring potential gains in terms of the price of energy. Integration will encourage efficiency by allowing the cross border sharing of best practice and creating a more unified energy grid will encourage supply security by promoting alternative energy sources. We cannot afford to carry on our dependency on the dwindling supplies of fossil fuels."@en1
