"The EU loves talking about Labour mobility, but what people in my region of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire really want is jobs. Instead, the EU has given them legislation which demands all job vacancies are advertised across the European Union. In the summer it was calculated the EURES programme has seen only 25 jobs go to British workers compared to the 34.7 per cent of jobs advertised which are based in Britain. After much toing-and-froing between the European Parliament and the Council, it was decided that all JobCentre Plus vacancies will have to be advertised across the 27 other countries in the EU as well as in Britain. The legislation has also been expanded to include apprenticeships and traineeships which would make it harder for young people to find work in the UK. This can only be described as a catastrophic failure for the British Government and what I find concerning is that they seemed to push for a solution which they could spin rather than one which would allow British jobs for British workers. I fear it is the unemployed in this country who will now find it even harder to get a job."@en1
