We need to promote an Energy Union in which citizens and local authorities play a central part and we realise the potential of the North Sea. We need an Energy Union in which the most vulnerable citizens are not left aside. Energy efficiency is the first fuel. It is about security. It is about savings. It is about energy poverty and health. Resistance to high, ambitious and binding targets on energy efficiency is inconsistent and irresponsible. I am hopeful that Parliament will give a progressive vision of the Energy Union tomorrow. We owe this to ourselves and to our future generations."@en1
