"Mr President, I have just voted against a report on the prevention of radicalisation and terrorism in Europe, a report that has actually been symptomatic of why the EU is not capable of stopping this kind of thing.
We have had a debate on it where all sorts of things were thrown out: ‘oh, the terrorists, it’s because they’re poor’; ‘oh, it’s because they don’t have a chance’; or ‘it’s because we’re harsh towards them and people speak out against immigration – oh, that’s why’.
Trying to understand reasons and always missing the point – always, because people are not actually on the ground floor seeing this – and then deliberately shying away from the fact that obviously, mass immigration has something to do with it, because you are bringing in large numbers of people and you do not know who they are. It is obviously there. Let us not be politically correct.
And then at the end of this farcical debate we have the most ludicrous voting session where, frankly, most of the people in the Chamber do not even know what they are voting for. Their hands are up, down, and no one knows what is happening. It has got passed through. I voted against it. It is an utter nonsense."@en1
