"The Commission’s proposal provides EUR 50 million in 2016 for the payment of advances, ensuring that funding can be made available to natural or regional disasters as quickly as possible. Advances are limited to 10% of the anticipated contribution of financial assistance (or no more than EUR 30 million). In order to be eligible for financial assistance under the EUSF, Member States must have experienced non-insurable damage totalling 0.6% of GNI. Regions at NUTS level 2 of an eligible state must have experienced non-insurable damage totalling 1.5% of that region’s GDP. The ECR Group recently voted in favour of financial assistance under the EUSF for instances of severe winter conditions in Bulgaria and flooding in Greece at the beginning of 2015. I can vote in favour of this report, given its largely technical nature, and previous support for the principles and objectives of the EUSF. No amendments were made by any political group at committee stage."@en1
