The EU must play an active role within the United Nations and contribute to effective multilateralism with a view to providing global solutions to global problems. This report sends a strong message about the need to reform the Security Council and our Socialist Group wishes the next elected Secretary-General of the United Nations to be a woman in order to tackle gender—based discrimination in this opaque process of selection."@en1
