Of course I do. Do I agree that the Roma people in particular have been treated appallingly in some countries and subjected to conditions that no one should be subjected to? Of course I do. Do I believe that nations should do more to tackle this kind of oppression? Of course I do. But then I look at the report and it suggests, within that report, that integration at European level is the solution. No, integration within those communities, within those nations, is what must be done to deal with this problem. Therefore the report, to my mind, completely misses the point. For that reason I abstained."@en1
