"I supported this report as it updates legislation which has been in place since 1997. The report aims to improve access for novel foods to the EU market, while maintaining a high level of consumer protection. It updates the categories of food which constitute novel foods and also provides for the introduction of a centralised EU authorisation system in order to enable safe, innovative foods to reach the EU market faster."@en1
