"I, along with Labour Party colleagues, voted in favour of this report which is the outcome of a long battle on important issues like net neutrality and abolishing roaming charges.
The introduction of a single market for electronic communications in Europe means all European countries will have to incorporate rules on net neutrality, which will oblige internet service providers to treat all internet traffic equally without discrimination, restriction or interference and irrespective of the sender and receiver, the content, the applications or services used.
A free and fair internet is crucial today as it is for the world of tomorrow. Freedom of expression, social empowerment, education, and inclusion depend on it. It is now up to national governments and regulators to push standards upwards from the European norm, and for civil society to remain active and vigilant on the subject."@en1
