"Madam President, since 1999 when UKIP MEPs first arrived at the European Parliament, we have never voted in favour of EU legislation, in favour of giving powers to Brussels. Regarding roaming charges, may I just say that, contrary to the belief that only the EU can achieve this, it simply is not true. I use Three for my mobile phone. During the summer I went to the USA and was able to use every feature on my phone at no extra cost. I travelled to five different states, yet despite the fact that America is not in the EU, Three was able to get a roaming-free deal across America. Why do we need the EU to legislate on this? There are always unintended consequences to legislation. Being forced to lose a lucrative revenue stream, the telecoms companies will recoup these costs from those who do not have the privilege of a jet-set lifestyle."@en1
