"Madam President, I co-signed and voted in favour of the amendments that would have guaranteed net neutrality across the EU. This was a unique opportunity for the European Parliament to make its power and its presence felt. It is important to say that there were some good outcomes from today’s vote: we will be putting an end to roaming charges, and I agree with my colleague, Jens Rohde, that we had to take a decision here in Parliament, but I am disappointed because I believe we could have gone further. We should have taken this opportunity to define net neutrality as the principle by which all internet traffic is treated equally without discrimination, restriction or interference, independent of its sender, recipient, type, content, device, service or application. Finally, it is important to say that Member States like the Netherlands can adopt regulations and enshrine net neutrality in their own domestic law."@en1
