"Madam President, we have the 2003 directive and the 2014 directive, but they are not entirely compatible in all areas. This results in dual reporting standards in the Union in certain cases. I welcome the recommendation in this report that we must avoid a situation of double reporting so as to avoid unnecessary burdens for Member States. Nevertheless, while the repeal may be necessary to avoid double reporting, I am in agreement with the rapporteur that the Commission must continue to closely monitor the repeal of the directive so as to avoid the creation of tax loopholes, and it should report back to Parliament on its findings of any such loopholes that may arise. I commend the call in this report that the Commission should act, if necessary by means of legislative proposals, in order to ensure that such loopholes are closed. This measure would ensure that the risk of loss of tax revenue from my own Member State and other Member States across the Union is reduced."@en1
