"Climate change represents an immediate and direct threat to the world that we live in. If action is not taken irreversible climate change will cease to be a theme of dystopian fiction but a part of our lives, potentially permanently. The unanimity of scientists on this issue is unprecedented, climate change is happening, and we are already on the brink. This motion lays down what the European Parliament feels should be the course taken at the upcoming conference in Paris. Although nations are currently bound to ensuring there is no rise over 2°C there is no guarantee that this will not cause great damage, therefore Parliament urges that a 1.5° limit be considered. Furthermore, the aims should be ambitious, global and legally binding. I believe the future of humanity is too important to be used as a political football and have therefore backed this motion."@en1
