It was a missed opportunity to address the current European crisis in any real substantial fashion. While a number of important issues were raised, the speeches lacked any prospect for real democracy or an emphasis on solidarity across the European Union. We must rethink our refugee policy and it cannot only be about militarising our outer borders. There must be a real emphasis put on solidarity and not just mere platitudes."@en1
