"I was happy to vote in favour of this. The legislation for small claims needed to be updated for the 21st Century by raising the amount that may be considered a small claim towards the higher British threshold and encouraging the use of long distance communication. This legislation takes us towards a more efficient and harmonious transnational system for dealing with small claims. Furthermore a 5-year review clause has been brought forward to look at making the court more accessible, by making charges proportionate to the claim being sought and free-of-charge assistance for the use of the procedure. There will also be a review about bringing labour matters within the purview of the court. These are all positive developments towards greater access to justice across Europe that I fully support."@en1
