"Mr President, Mr Tusk refers to all migrants as refugees. They are not. Some are, but most are not. They are economic migrants.
Last Saturday, hundreds of migrants at Calais again tried to enter the UK illegally. With the risk of criminals and jihadi terrorists slipping across our porous borders, I fear the safety of the British people is at risk yet again. According to Eurotunnel, we are now seeing left-wing British anarchists stirring up trouble in the migrant camps. Please, French authorities, do us all a favour and deal with them in your own unique way of crowd control. While you are doing this, could I remind you that the migrants cutting the fences are criminals, the migrants breaking into lorries are criminals, and the migrants storming the tunnel are criminals?
Why are the Calais authorities and the French Government failing to stop this? They can do so under the Dublin Agreement by arresting, detaining and deporting. Hungary’s Viktor Orbán shows leadership by taking the appropriate measures. He is being a good European, entering into the solidarity that is so often spoken about in this Parliament. Other countries should follow his example. The majority of the leaders in this place give out open invitations. Is it any wonder the migrants come?
To end this crisis it is crucial to start upholding the Dublin rules and to take back full control of our borders."@en1
