"After much negotiation between my Group, the Socialists and Democrats, and the European People’s Party – as well as with the Liberals and the Greens – the joint motion for a resolution had the backing of over two—thirds of Parliament. With S&D positions involved, this motion for a resolution will be strong on the EU social dimension, a fairer taxation policy, better standards in trade policy and a clear position on the digital revolution and what that means for social standards. Furthermore, along with my Group, I voted in favour of this motion for a resolution because it addresses some key concerns regarding the eurozone crisis and looks at creating better regulation and better standards. Particularly important in this report was the inclusion of the holistic approach to migration and asylum, which ‘stresses the need to provide safety for asylum seekers in the process of requesting refugee status and to remove refugees’ need to choose risky routes into the EU.’ It was great that we were able to include so many other political Groups in this joint motion, and we were able to combat the influence of those who care little for democracy and inclusion."@en1
