"In the EU, the gap between women’s education and their professional development is still very wide. This needs to be addressed, and not only in order to achieve gender equality. Closing the gap between women's educational attainment and their professional achievement will help long-term economic growth.
Specific programmes for marginalised communities, for Roma girls for example, should be established in Member States to make sure that primary, secondary and higher education is followed through.
We need to do more in order to increase the number of girls and women in education. However, education alone does not cut it. A change of mentality on gender values are what will make our society more fair and just for everyone."@en1
