"As I stated in my previous explanation, I voted for this report for the same reason: women and girls have a right to an education. And this report makes it clear that education, as a major aspect of socialisation, radically affects our perception of women and girls. Not only do schools shape our perception of other genders, but also contribute massively to attitudes, choices and ambitions. If we are to empower girls to achieve their true potential, we must create the appropriate learning environments where our current attitudes towards gender is challenged; from stereotypes to discrimination. All children must be able to thrive.
There is an urgent need to tackle these inequalities and present practical solutions to very real problems girls are facing."@en1
