"I, and Labour MEPs, voted for this report for a simple reason: women and girls have a right to an education. This report demonstrates that there a long way to go on the road to ending gender-related barriers in education, particularly with regards to science and higher education. It makes a series of recommendations which will ensure that women are able to play their full role in science, research and higher education, these are recommendations that are very important. We face a shortfall in skills, especially in science, technology, engineering and mathematics; something we can avoid if we act now and give women and girls more freedom to pursue their careers."@en1
