"This is an excellent report which will enable MEPs to scrutinise candidates for the College of Commissioners in more detail and also looks at the overall balance of the Commission. Currently only a quarter of Commissioners are women and this is totally unacceptable. To claim full democratic legitimacy, all of our institutions need to be representative of European society as a whole. By recommending that Member States nominate at least one woman for Commissioner, this report represents a major step forward."@en1
