"I voted in favour of this report as it provides a comprehensive overview of the current situation of fundamental rights in the EU. It is particularly strong on calls for enhancing the rights of LGBTI citizens and I welcome the calls for a greater understanding of Transgender issues. The report is also strong on the rights of women and children. The report calls for ‘life-saving abortion’ to be provided as a right. Sinn Féin believe that in the case of rape, sexual abuse or incest or where a women’s life is in danger, or in the case of fatal foetal abnormality the option of termination should be available. Sexual and reproductive health and rights cannot be reduced to mean abortion. Reproductive rights can refer to a range of services covering maternal, post natal, menopausal, reproductive cancers and fertility treatments. It is my party’s and my own view that women should not be denied access to such services."@en1
