"Mr President, I have just voted against a proposal on human rights put forward in this place. The whole reason for it was simply that the UK does not need to be told about human rights by the EU. Over many years, the UK has saved people in Europe and the wider world from abuses of human rights. We do not need to be dictated to on this subject. One of the insane proposals that was put forward in this latest idea was to give votes to illegal immigrants. This is the kind of proposal that comes from the EU. This is why the UK does not need the EU and this is why – hopefully very, very soon – in our referendum the UK will leave the EU to these crazy fantasies and crazy ideas and get back to being a beacon of true democracy and true human rights."@en1
