"Mr President, my colleagues in the PPE from Ireland voted in favour of this report, because we think it is a very important one. There are many exceptionally good elements in it. It is estimated that a properly-functioning circular economy could create anything up to two million jobs and be worth EUR 250 billion to 465 billion to the economy. Obviously, apart from the economic benefits, there are the environmental benefits. We have just talked about waste. The word waste means that you are wasting something. Obviously the less waste we have, the more use we make of our resources and the more efficient we are. Obviously it costs less. This is a very good proposal. I think we should try to follow it through and give the lead, particularly in Europe, on how this can be done. But the final point is that we must do so without putting too many burdens on SMEs. I think we can do that in a practical manner."@en1
