"With my EPLP and Socialist colleagues, I voted in favour of this report because the report is an own-initiative, but it will be important in setting out the Parliament’s views before the Commission’s copyright reform proposal, due by the end of the year. The report also stresses that copyright is only as effective as the enforcement measures in place to protect it and that in order to ensure a flourishing and innovative creative sector copyright enforcement must be robust. A lot of focus in the media and in public campaigns has been on an amendment added to the report by the Liberal group which threatened freedom of panorama – I voted with my Labour colleagues against this amendment, and it was strongly rejected in the vote. The Labour Party will vote against any amendment which negatively affects the current UK provisions on freedom of panorama."@en1
