I note that Mr Zarianopoulos wished to address the chamber and explain his perspective on this case, but was not permitted to do so. I understand that this is an application of Rule 9(8) of Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, and believe that this should be considered for a future rule change. The ‘accused’ should have the opportunity to present their case. I further note that there was no debate. For the above reasons, on this occasion I decided to abstain rather than vote in favour of waiving immunity."@en1
