lpv:spoken text	"The Irish PPE delegation abstained on a number of votes in the report on ʽStrategic military situation in the Black Sea Basin following the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russiaʼ. These votes concern issues such as: providing Ukraine with defensive arms, urging Member States to increase their defence spending and enhancing the military capabilities of NATO in the Black Sea Basin. Ireland is a neutral country and is not a Member of NATO; the status of countries such as Ireland should be respected in this instance. While we support the EU’s approach to the crisis in Ukraine, we do not believe that all EU Member States should be obliged to support NATO policy action in the region. Since the general intention of the report is positive, we voted in favour of the final report but abstained on a number of separate votes."@en1
