lpv:spoken text	"Whilst I acknowledge that the EU’s environmental targets and energy security objectives are not entirely independent policy areas, I believe it is important that Member States decide their own energy mixes. Fully renewable energy sources are insufficient if the EU is to meet its carbon reduction targets and alternative energy sources can play an important, intermediately step in this process and at the same time reduce our dependence on external energy sources. This report should focus on reducing our foreign energy dependency in the context of an energy union whilst Member States should then be able to determine their energy mix whilst committing to the EU’s environmental targets. If this reports deviates away from its original function, we will end up with overlapping regulation whilst infringing on the principle of subsidiarity."@en1
