"Energy—intensive industry is moving from Europe to countries with cheaper energy costs. That is why I know, for example, scrap metal merchants who are selling now to India because they can get a better price for doing so, even with all the carbon footprint involved in transporting that metal from the UK to India. High energy prices push more of this to happen and cause fuel poverty for pensioners. Could, therefore, the European Energy Union prove counterproductive if it is not competitive?"@en1
