"I voted in favour of this very important and timely report. It sets out the need for a concrete plan of action on gender equality over the coming years. Progress on gender equality has been slowing down in recent years and there is clearly scope for a renewed equality agenda. Recent research conducted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights found that a third of women have experienced physical or sexual violence, so it is really vital that we have in place the laws, financial resources and political will to tackle that. Gender inequality pervades almost every part of society, so we must continue to respond in a holistic way and take account of multiple forms of discrimination. Maria Noichl’s report is very strong in this respect."@en1
