"The ECR believes defence policy must always remain a matter of national sovereignty. We do not agree with the suggestion that defence spending should be co-ordinated and we continue to resist moves that may undermine NATO and weaken our links with international defence partners, especially the US. We do recognise the importance of having an innovative and expanding defence industry, but we believe this should be brought about by efforts by individual governments to meet the recommended 2% of GNI spend."@en1
