It is deplorable that the EU Commission has taken the regrettable decision to withdraw this directive which would have seen 20 weeks of paid maternity leave and paid paternity leave of 2 weeks. It is extremely disappointing, but unfortunately not unexpected from the new Commission, that they have made this decision which represents a serious step back for gender equality and the active participation of women in the labour market."@en1
