"Mr President, I voted in favour of this report as I believe the single market is one of the most powerful engines at EU level, and its potential needs to be fully exploited to boost growth, competitiveness and creation of new jobs.
The report fully reflects this. This report sends a strong message to the Commission and the Member States, and calls for improvement of single market governance to promote and facilitate growth and jobs, but also serves as the benchmark for commitment to structural reform in the Member States. In my region, the West Midlands, the report identifies a number of key sectors: SMEs, public procurement, digital single market, free movement of goods, better consumer protection and tools for single market integration.
I really applaud the recommendations as to how to improve these in order to unlock the potential of the single market. That could generate billions of euro in additional revenue."@en1
